Here you will find information on Ireland’s development assistance programme in Tanzania, consular, passport and visa information, current travel advice and general information about Ireland.

The Embassy is located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and is also accredited to Kenya, Burundi, Eritrea and the East African Community.  Our role is to maintain and strengthen Ireland’s good relations with the countries we cover and the East African Community, and to support and assist Irish citizens and Irish business in the region. Ireland also has a Consulate in Nairobi - further details are available here .

As well as carrying out political, trade and consular functions, the Embassy manages Ireland’s development programme in Tanzania. The Irish Aid programme has been running since 1979 and has a longstanding focus on agricultural development and improved health services, complemented by a more recent emphasis on the importance of adequate nutrition.  To achieve the programme’s goals, Ireland works in partnership with the government of Tanzania by supporting national systems for the delivery of services that matter most to households across Tanzania.  Further information on our development programme is available in the summary of our current Country Strategy paper 2011 – 2015 (PDF 579kb) .
